How to get here

Lyme Regis is on the South coast, on the borders of Dorset, Devon and Somerset.

Bus

There are two bus services which travel through Lyme Regis regularly, the X51 which runs between Axminster (linking with the train service) and Dorchester and the X53 which takes a particularly scenic route along the Jurassic Coast running between Axminster and Weymouth/Poole.

 

Between Axminster and Bridport, the two services combine to offer a half hourly service through the daytime.

 

Train

If travelling from further away, a train service runs between Waterloo and Exeter, stopping at Axminster, from which Lyme Regis is only a short bus journey. Visit SouthWest Trains to plan your journey and choose Axminster (or AXM) as the destination station.


Routes if travelling by car

Routes from the north: M5, A37, A3066, A30, A358, A35, & B3165.

Routes from the east: A30, A354, A338, A303, A31 & A35.

Routes from the west: A30, A35, & A3052

Please be aware that Lyme Regis can get very busy during the Fossil Festival - please use public transport where possible. If you do travel by car please the car parks on the edge of town.

There is a large car park near the harbour area of Lyme Regis, but please be aware that this can get very busy. There are also two large long stay car parks on the edge of Lyme Regis – on the Sidmouth Road coming in from Seaton and Charmouth Road from the Bridport direction.

Additional car parking - monies going to charity - can be found during the Fossil Festival at St Andrew's Meadow field, accessed from Haye Lane (enter from Silver Street). Look out for the little red parking signs. £4 for the day, postcode DT7 3LR

Charities supported: Lyme Regis Museum, Guide Dogs for the Blind, Sir George Somers Statue and Pimary Schools in Rural Malawi.
